Denton Community Challenge is a Committee made up of the Church, Denton School FADS (PTA), and the James Daniels Memorial Foundation and local volunteers.

This is our 8th event, and as per the previous 7 years where we have held a successful Family day / Community Sporting Event for local families. Children can take part in a wide range of sporting activities for a small contribution.

The event is held in June at the Avis Road Recreation Ground in Denton, Newhaven BN9 0PN.

On the day itself local sporting groups and Charities take part in the event which is similar to a village fete but with the added attraction of sporting activities alongside displays from sporting groups, clubs and other entertainment in the arena.

The day is all about promoting sporting activities and children can take part in all the sporting challenges provided by the local sports groups and will receive a rosette at the end for their effort and a free burger after 4pm courtesy of the local 2nd Denton & South Heighton Scout Group.

To take part just make your way to the Main Tent on the day and collect a ‘scorecard’ for a small fee.   Cakes and refreshments will be available in the Community Hall and a Bar and BBQ are also provided.

You will also find the usual tombola and stalls associated with a village fete and also a bouncy castle and other activities available, which are subsidised by the Committee. The sporting groups taking part will also have stalls promoting and fund raising on behalf of their clubs.

Alongside the event in the Community Centre there will also be a craft fayre where lots of interesting goodies can be purchased.

The Committee hold fund raising event throughout the year in order to subsidise the day and provide exciting attractions at a fraction of the usual cost.

Any funds raised from the event on the day are split between the above DCC groups and the money goes back into the community. But the day is not about fund raising its about providing a fun inclusive day for families to enjoy and raising awareness of the sporting groups in the area

We hope you will join us – along with the sunshine! (our fingers are crossed!!)
